Learn how people with disabilities can enjoy our preserves

We are excited to introduce new national inclusion guidelines at next week's Pennsylvania Land Conservation Conference in Reading.

One of the best places to get Healthy Outdoors Every Day is on one of our many land preserves in the region. Many preserves not only include trails that immerse you in nature, but also opportunities to do physical work as volunteers to help to save our planet. The problem? Many preserves struggle to accommodate people with disabilities.

So we jumped on the opportunity in 2021 to work with other disability advocates and researchers to develop new national inclusion guidelines for the Land Trust Alliance. LTA trains and accredits thousands of land conservancies across the country. By describing how conservancies can begin to adapt their trails, educational programming, communications, and organizational structure to include those who face barriers to enjoying the outdoors, we can help even more people get Healthy Outdoors Every Day. We are excited to introduce these guidelines to Pennsylvania's land conservancies at next week's annual conference, to be held in Reading. Maybe we will see you there?
